This page explains what we can and cannot help with, and where to direct questions about official Lake County criminal records. Most requests belong with a government office, not with us - the routing below sends each record type to the right place.

This Is Not a Government Office. We run a private reference site. This site cannot pull criminal records, run official background checks, remove or correct a record, or accept expungement filings for anyone. For any of those, you need to reach the right government office directly.

Need an Official Record?

Here's where to look for the records most people ask about in Lake County:

  • Court case files: see criminal court case records, or contact the clerk of the court that heard the case
  • Criminal records and rap sheets: contact the Colorado Bureau of Investigation
  • Arrest, booking, and jail records: contact the Lake County sheriff's records unit
  • Official background checks: order through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation
  • Police reports and incident records: contact the agency that wrote the report
  • Expungement and record sealing: file with the court that heard the case

For sheriff reports and booking records, contact Lake County Sheriff's Records/Administration, 505 Harrison Avenue, Leadville, CO 80461, at 719-486-1249 or Records@lakecountyso.org. Counter hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.

For District Court or County Court files, contact the Lake County court clerk at the Lake County Courthouse, 505 Harrison Avenue, Leadville, CO 80461. Confirm the clerk's current telephone line through the official Colorado Judicial Branch Lake County court page before calling.
